Sports carnival for cancer survivors

A one-day sports carnival titled 'Spirit to Survive' for the cancer survivors was held at the Dhanmondi Women's Sports Complex in the city Wednesday, bdnews24.com reports.
Some 60 cancer survivors took part in the events of shot-put, 100-metre walking, 50-metre race, archery, paddle boat race, shooting, javelin throw and discus throw.
Sanofi-aventis Bangladesh, in association with the National Sports Council and supported by the Bangladesh Olympic Association, organised the sporting event in a bid to uphold the fight-back of the cancer survivors.
Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Professor Emeritus ABMF Karim, Professor MA Hye, Dr M Selim Reza, former captain of the Bangladesh national football team Arif Khan Joy, former skipper of the Bangladesh national cricket team Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, among others, were present in the prize-giving ceremony.
