Suro Krishna Chakma claims Super Lightweight Intercontinental title

Pro-Boxing's Bangladeshi champion Suro Krishna Chakma has added yet another feather to his cap after clinching the Super Lightweight Intercontinental Championship title at the Beximco Xcel Boxing Championship fight night on Saturday, reports UNB. Suro Chakma came face-to-face with Nepal's Mahendra Bahadur Chand in the Super Lightweight category where the defending champion beat his Nepalese opponent in a nail-biting eight round thriller.
The InterContinental Dhaka was bustling with boxing enthusiasts as the "Beximco Xcel Boxing Championship 2.0 Fight Night" unfolded.
With 16 participants from various countries, the night witnessed 8 intense bouts across categories such as Super Middleweight, Flyweight, Bantamweight, Super Lightweight, Welterweight, and Light Heavyweight.
The Bangladesh Boxing Foundation-sanctioned event commenced with a gripping Bantamweight bout between Bangladeshi boxers, Aminul and Al Sany. Sany emerged victorious, showcasing his exceptional skill set.
The international bouts began with a face-off in the Super Middleweight category between Yugandhar Tambat and Jewel Ahmed Jony.
Despite Tambat's aggressive approach, Jony clinched the win with his impeccable scoring punches.
The female bout, a much-anticipated event, saw Tanzila and Afra Khondokar battling it out for six rounds.
Tanzila, the former WBU Intercontinental Title Challenger, secured her victory, adding another feather to her cap.
The fourth match unfolded as an exhilarating clash between Jahidul Islam, a former national champion, and the Turkish Champion, Batuhan Boral. Boral continued his undefeated run, securing victory over Jahidul with a technical knockout in the fourth round. The local hero, Al Amin, brought honour to Bangladesh by triumphing over Russian fighter Rudenko in the Welterweight category following an intense four-round bout. Al Amin dominated the ring and emerged victorious against the Russian opponent.
The undefeated Bangladeshi boxer, Uthsob Ahmed, and India's undefeated Bantamweight, Pawan Kumar Arya, gave the audience a match to remember.
In every round of the bout, Uthsob cornered Pawan with his powerful punches and great jabs.
Utsob's calm strategy of blocking, defending, and attacking the opponent kept his way to the win.
In a gripping match, "The Tiger", French welterweight Dervis Florent, faced off against Nepalese welterweight champion Bharat Chand. After six intense rounds in the Welterweight category, Dervis emerged as the winner.
