Sylhet, Rajshahi storm into final

Sylhet and Rajshahi district teams confirmed their final berths in the Bangladesh Youth Games Football (boys) beating their rivals in the semifinals at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city on Sunday, reports UNB.

Sylhet crushed Dhaka by 5-1 goals in the first semifinal, which was locked in 1-1 in the stipulated time.

After the barren first half, Isharul put Dhaka ahead in the 62nd minute while Habibur restored the parity in the 68th minute.

Russell struck the hat-trick in the extra-time scoring three goals in the 91st, 102nd and 119th minutes while Habibur took another one in the 108th minute.

Rajshahi defeated Rangpur by 2 - 1 goals in another semifinal.

Rangpur took the lead with Mirajul scoring in the 13th minute but Shakib scored the equaliser in the 45th minute for Rajshahi. Pias netted the match winner in the stopgap time after 90 minutes.

Sylhet and Rajshahi will play the final at the same venue on Wednesday.

Dhaka and Rangpur will take on each other in the 3rd place deciding match also at the same venue on Tuesday.
