Table topper BCB North Zone bowler Taijul Islam's 8-wicket haul restricted Prime Bank South Zone at 271 on the opening day of the five-day match of the 2nd Bangladesh Cricket League final at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday, reports UNB.
Sent in to bat first, Prime Bank South Zone posted the mediocre total for all in 83 overs with one down Soumya Sarker scoring 70 runs off 131 balls that featured nine fours and a six.
In the 4th wicket stand, Soumya Sarker pairing with middle order Shuvagata Hom contributed 122 runs before Shuvagata was caught by Naeem Islam off a Taijul delivery, to carry the team total from 91/3 in 27.2 overs to 213/4 in 57.3 overs.
Shuvagata scored 60 runs off 72 balls with six fours and two sixes.
Taiabur Parvez (39), Imrul Kayes (38), Mithun (25) and Ziaur Rahman (not out 21) were the other notable scorers for Prime Bank SZ.
Taijul bowled superbly to claim eight wickets for 86 runs in 31 overs, restricting Prime Bank SZ to play only 83 overs in the first innings.
Sanjamul Islam took the other two wickets conceding 46 runs in 20 overs.
In reply, BCB NZ opened the first innings and scored 15 for no loss in 8 overs at stumps on the first day.
Junaid Siddique and Myshukur Rahman were batting on 11 and 3 runs respectively.
