NEW DELHI, Aug 10 (PTI): After rectifying a technical glitch in his action, Arjuna award winning archer Jayanta Talukdar is now aiming at the ultimate recognition in Indian sport-the Khel Ratna.
Talukdar said he was now consistently scoring well and looked forward to winning an Olympic berth at the upcoming Asian Championships in China.
"There was a fault in my technique which resulted from a shoulder injury. My left shoulder was closer to the body and there was a lot of stiffness while shooting. I have now made it more open and my scores have improved significantly. My next target is the Asian Championships which will give me an opportunity to qualify for the Olympics," Talukdar, who has been left out of the Indian team for quite some time due to patchy form, told the PTI.
The archer bagged the Arjuna award for his sterling performance last year. He won the gold medal at the Croatia leg of the World Cup and finished a creditable fourth at the mega final in Mexico. Talukdar said the honour has given him a sense of satisfaction and would inspire him to achieve further glory. "Everybody in my family is happy. I got the reward for my good showing and it would boost my morale to earn more medals and win the Khel Ratna," he said.
