Bangladesh's most accomplished batsman across all three formats Tamim Iqbal returned home Sunday from a trip to the UK to consult his preferred doctor on the injury to his left hand, reports UNB.
He will however remain sidelined during the recovery period, which may stretch up to 8 weeks.
"It will take at least seven to eight weeks to be cured fully," said Tamim to reporters after his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5 pm on Sunday.
"No further treatment will be required...But will need to revisit my doctor after five weeks," said Tamim quoting doctor's suggestion.
That means the left-handed opener is likely to miss out on Bangladesh's home series against Zimbabwe in November, comprising 2 Tests and 3 ODIs.
Tamim fractured his left wrist during Bangladesh's match against Sri Lanka in the 14th Asia Cup opener at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE on September 15.
The left-handed experienced batsman Tamim sustained the injury from only the third ball he faced when a Suranga Lakmal delivery struck him on Bangladesh post of 261/10 in 49.3 overs.
Then, Tamim briefly received treatment from the team physio but was forced to retire hurt, though, bravely returned at the ground to face one ball and gave a 14 balls company to Mushfiqur Rahim in the end for a 137-run victory. Tamim played no further part in the six-nation tournament.
He left for British city of Southampton, where his doctor David Warwick practices, on September 27.
