Tasnova emerges champ in girls' singles

Tasnova Shaheed of National Tennis Complex emerged champion in the girls' singles (16-year age group) of the Dhaka Open Tennis Competition, beating top seed Kibria Ayta Zaman Bhabna by 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 sets at the National Tennis Complex in the city Tuesday.
In the men's singles event, top seed Amal Roy of Bashundhara Club advanced to the final, beating Dipu Lal of Nordic Club by 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 sets.
In the boys' singles (16-year age group),, Mofazzel Hossain and Omar Faruq Sunny moved to the final, outplaying their respective opponents in the semifinals.
Mofazzel beat Hanif Munna by 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 sets while Sunny defeated Sabbir by 6-4, 6-4 sets. In the boys' singles (13-year age group), Rustam ensured his final berth, beating Raisul by 6-4, 6-4 sets.
Biplob Ram was the other player to make his place in the final, defeating Zamil by 6-3, 7-5 sets.
The final day's play will be held today. Bangladesh Tennis Federation president AMM Nasir Uddin will be present as the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony, reports UNB.
