Team East make good start

Riding on a Shakil Haider century, Team East made a good start in the final round four-day match of the Challenger's Cup against Team North scoring 259 for 5 in 95 overs on the first day at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium Friday, reports UNB.
Team East decided to bat first after winning the toss. Their openers Shakil and Mominul Islam gave the foundation to their innings putting up 133 runs in the first wicket stand.
Shakil made 130 from 232 balls that featured 21 fours while Mominul scored 51 runs off 128 balls with seven fours.
Middle order Salahuddin Ahmed and number seven Rezaul Islam remained unbeaten on 31 and 12 runs respectively.
Gazi Alamgir and Mohammad Yunus took two wickets each for 37 and 57 runs respectively.
In the day's other match at the BKSP in Savar, bottom ranked Team South made a solid start against Team West were 201 for 3 in 91 overs by stumps in their first innings on the first day.
