Bangladesh's Macedonian coach Nikola Ilievski believes that his team would have to show their team work if they want to achieve any positive result against Iraq in the second match of the AFC U-19 Group A qualifiers which begins at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 7:00 pm today (Thursday), reports BSS.
Hosts Bangladesh are flying high after their excellent 3-0 win over the Maldives in their inaugural match and now the youngsters are expected to be eager to continue their good work today (Thursday) against Iraq but coach Nikola Ilievski warned his side about the tough nature of their rival Iraq ahead of the crucial tie.
"The first match was important. We were under huge pressure on Tuesday to begin the tourney on a winning note. The Maldives were not a very organised team and they looked quite weak. Now the players are more motivated after a good win Thursday and I hope they would use the confidence gained after Maldives win" said Ilelvski.
Ilievski was not very happy with the fixture. "The fixture is very demanding. One day rest is not enough after playing a match and besides different starting time schedule would not be easy to cope with. I want my team to play more collectively rather concentrating on their individual skill" said the Macedonian.
Ilievski was brave enough to admit that he had no idea about Iraq. He was determined to put an aggressive show. "I do not have any idea about Iraq but I heard that they are a strong team. I have all the respect for my opponents. They might have information about us as they saw us playing yesterday". "I will go for an attacking 4-3-3 formation. I like attacking from the beginning" he added.
Ilievski hinted Malek, Krishna, Sajib and Anik may start in the opening line up.
Though the players are free of any injuries there are some minor problems. "The field was very hard. Five of my players had a stiff muscle problem. When you run on a hard surface it harms the lower part of your body especially the calf muscle. Our training ground the BKSP fields were soft so there are some discomfort among the players" said the Macedonian.
Iraq enjoyed their practice session Wednesday afternoon and their media manager on behalf of their coach said Iraq will put on their best for a winning start. "We want to win all the matches and to qualify for the finals, said the Iraqi media manager.
