Dutch rookie Ryan Ten Doeschate's blistering 95-run knock brought Chittagong Kings an 89-run win over Khulna Royal Bengals Thursday to forge their place at four in the points table of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 Season 2, reports UNB.
At the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Ryan Ten Doeschate's scrapping charge on the Khulna bowlers in the last five overs and number seven Kevon Cooper's quick-fire 15 (off 5 balls) gave a huge boost to the Chittagong Kings as they posted 156 for 5 in 20 overs.
Wondering even to go past the 110-run-mark in quota 20 overs at one stage, Chittagong saw Kevon Cooper and Ten Doeschate trigger some blast in the last two overs that brought 36 runs.
The later slog hitting not only turned the score to a challenging one but also spread as a shockwave as the Chittagong bowlers bundled out Khulna Royal Bengals for 67 in 14.2 overs.
Earlier, asked to bat first Chittagong Kings stumbled losing three wickets for 10 runs in 3.3 overs as West Indian left-arm medium Krishmar Santokie and Afghan Shapoor Zadran provided breakthroughs early.
The fourth wicket pair of Ryan Ten Doeschate and South African left hander David Miller then pulled things back with a 61-run partnership off 55 balls. Number five David Miller scored 22 runs off 26 balls with a four and a six. Though the next batsman Jacob Oram slowed down the proceedings a bit scoring 4 off 9 balls, Ten Doeschate mended the damage.
With 87 for 4 in 15 overs, Ten Doeschate smacked two back to back sixes off Dollar Mahmud's first two balls in the 16th over and with the hitting on, Ten Doeschate ended up staying not out on a 61-ball 95 that featured seven fours and four sixes.
West Indian Kevon Cooper played a 5-ball 15 with two fours and a six and later on performed brilliantly with the ball as he finished 10-4 in his 3.2 overs.
Khulna Royal Bengals seamers Shapoor Zadran and Krishmar Santokie claimed two wickets apiece for 21 and 30 runs respectively in 4-over quotas.
Chasing 157, Khulna Royal Bengals had regular hiccups and with only two double digit scorers-opener Shahriar Nafees (15) and number seven Farhad Reza (13) -- they could manage total 67 runs before getting dismissed in the face of devastating bowling from Chittagong.
Strike bowler Jacob Oram claimed two wickets for 17 runs while slow left-arm Enamul Haque Jr turned out to be baffling with the spell of 14-3 in his 3 overs.
Ryan Ten Doeschate was named player of the match as Chittagong Kings secured 8 points playing eight matches to stay above Barisal Burners, who have 6 points from seven matches.
