Three players share lead after 8th rnd

Three players--FM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag (Biman) and FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon (Chittagong Mohammedan)-- shared lead in the Prime Bank 11th Open International Rating Chess Tournament with seven points after the 8th round held at the chess Federation hall room in the city Friday.
Three more players closely followed the leaders with 6.5 points each. They are Obaidul Islam Shaheen (Jobs Vander), Sohel Chowdhury, Pritam Prijam and Abdul Majed (Farashganj), reports UNB.
In the 8th round matches, Shakil beat Shahin, Emon beat Robin, Parag beat Mohammad Ali, Sohel beat Mohammad Shameem, Majed beat Sk Rashedul Hasan, Reza beat Abdullah Al Saif, Uten beat Nahid Parvej, Feroz beat Hanif Mollah, Sharif beat Mizanur Rahman, Chapal beat Mokaddesur Rahman and Momin beat Sharmin Sultana Shirin.
The 9th and last round matches start at 10:00 am today (Saturday) at the same venue.
