KOLKATA, Nov 20 (Agencies): Tickets for the first four days of the day-night Kolkata Test between hosts India and touring Bangladesh have been sold out, said BCCI president and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.
The interest of the spectators about the Kolkata Test went high as the match will be the first day-night Test for both the countries. India were invited by several countries on several occasions to play a day-night Test, but they refused the offer.
But this time, BCCI asked Bangladesh to play a day-night Test in Kolkata and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) responded to it positively and agreed to play the match after discussing with the national players.
"The all tickets for the first four days of the Kolkata Test have been sold out. I'm really happy for it," BCCI boss Ganguly told the media on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens.
"We have many programmes on the first day of the Kolkata Test, including parat dropping by the Indian Army, who will land to the match venue to hand over the balls to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and the captains of the both teams.
During the lunch break, the organisers will arrange a talk-show to be participated by Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble.
The historic Test will take place from 1:30pm (Bangladesh time) and will be telecast live by Gtv in Bangladesh. Before heading to this game, Bangladesh suffered a humiliating innings and 130-run defeat against India in the first game in Indore.
Meanwhile, the former Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President has taken it on himself to ensure that everything is in place as the venue gets ready for D-Day. Moments after inspecting the pitch, Ganguly spoke to the media and his excitement was clearly visible
"The pitch looks good. I am very excited. When have you last seen a Test match where first four days' tickets have been sold out," he smiled.
