Bangladesh had begun the series to a great note with a victory in the first ODI in Centurion by 38 runs. South Africa then fought back in the next match to make 1-1 in the series. However, the Proteas lost the 3rd and the series decider, once again in Centurion by massive 9 wickets deficit, handing a 2-1 series victory to the away team.
With this series win, Bangladesh sits at the top of the points table with 120 points to their name from 18 matches, in which, they have won 12 matches and lost 6 matches. England is currently behind them on the 2nd position with 95 points.

The last three series of the World Cup Super League for Bangladesh are abroad. Three matches have already been played in South Africa. Then there are two series on the ground of England and Ireland. Bangladesh will take the lead with a 2 win over South Africa. In the next two series, the Tigers will be able to play without relying on the idea of qualifying for the World Cup.
According to Super League rules, only eight teams, including hosts India, qualify automatically.
The bottom five teams in the Super League will have to endure a qualifying tournament in June 2023, along with five associate nations, with only two places available for India.
The remaining five teams from the 13 teams will play in the official qualifiers, along with five other teams that have reached the lower qualification level, of which two of the 10 teams will qualify for the World Cup.
Each team will play 24 against the 13-team Super League. Bangladesh have played 18 games, so far the Tigers are at the top. It is almost certain that Bangladesh will at least be in the top eight despite losing the remaining six matches.
In that case, direct participation of Bangladesh in the World Cup is almost confirmed.
