Bangladesh Women's team lost the three-match T20 International series to Sri Lanka after suffering a 21-run defeat in the second match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Thursday, reports BSS.

Put into bat first, the visiting Sri Lankan side posted a competitive 154-4 before restricting Bangladesh to 133-5 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Sri Lanka had earlier won the first game by 25 runs, making it a do-or-die contest for Bangladesh.

However, the hosts failed to rise to the occasion in the crucial game despite getting a solid start from openers Dilara Akter and Juairiya Ferdous, who put on 46 runs for the opening stand.

Dilara was the first to depart after scoring 23 when Kavisha Dilhari had her caught by Hansima Karunaratne.

Juairiya, who played with utmost confidence, was run out after scoring a fluent 29, and her dismissal left Bangladesh in a precarious position.
