Tigresses need 271 runs to win against SA

Bangladesh women's cricket team need 271 runs in the 1st match at Senwes Cricket Stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa on Friday to get off to a winning start in the five-match ODI series against South Africa women's team, reports UNB.

Batting first after winning the toss, South Africa scored 270 for 9 in 50 overs where openers Chloe Tryon (65 off 42b; 9x4; 3x6) and Lizelle Lee (54 off 64b; 7x4; 1x6) hammered half centuries.

SA skipper Dane van Niekerk (44 off 52b; 6x4) was another notable scorer. Mignon du Preez and Laura Wolvaardt added 26 runs each.

Left handed spinner Nahida Akter kmade the 1st breakthrough for Bangladesh, bowling out L Wolvaardt on 67/1 in 12.4 overs, before skipper Rumana Ahmed dismissed Trisha Chetty by dint of lbw.

Fahima Khatun bowled out L Lee on 98/3 in 23.2 overs before Nahida got her 2nd one in Mignon du Preez being caught by Fahima Khatun on 161/4 in 33.2 overs.

Nahida (2/22), Fahima Khatun (2/53) and experienced Jahanara Alam (2/62) equally shared six wickets. Rumana (1/38) and Salma Khatun (1/52) shared two wickets for Bangladesh.
