Training camp of BD team begins

The training camp of Bangladesh team for the 4th Indo-Bangladesh Bangla Games, Dhaka-2015, scheduled for the first week of April, began at the Outer Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.

Nine disciplines of sports-athletics, badminton, boxing, football, gymnastics, men's kabaddi, shooting, swimming and men's volleyball-are included in the five-day meet, involving Bangladesh and West Bengal.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza inaugurated the training programmes for kabaddi, volleyball and boxing at separate venues at the Outer Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The training camp for other participating disciplines will begin within this week.

BOA Vice President Mizanur Rahman Manu, BOA deputy secretaries-general Ashiqur Rahman Miku and Imtiaz Khan Babul, treasurer Kazi Razibuddin Ahmed Chapal and Director General Fakruddin Haider, and general secretary of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation M Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion.

Some 152 players and officials are involved in the 60-day training programme - athletics (30 players +2 officials), badminton (10+2), boxing (12+2), gymnastics (12+2), Kabaddi (14+1), swimming (28+2), shooting (18+2) and volleyball (14+1).

Training camp for men's and women's football teams will begin later.
