Right-handed batsman Tushar Imran leaves here for Colombo Friday midnight to join the Bangladesh test squad, reports UNB.
Tushar, who was earlier included in the ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series, will reach Colombo before the 3rd test that will begin July 11 at Kandy.
The 23-year-old Jessore-born player has been chosen as a back-up middle order batsman to the 15-member test squad.
Talking to the reporters, chief selector Faruque Ahmed said the decision to send Tushar to Sri Lanka to bolster the test squad was taken after discussing with another selector Akram Khan, who is accompanying the national squad.
Tushar, who played his last test against Sri Lanka in 2005, said: "I think this time I will find a place in the Bangladesh squad for the 3rd test…I will try my best to hold my place in the test squad for a long time."
Meanwhile, four players -- Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Farhad Reza and Mahmudullah Riyadh -- are expected to depart for Sri Lanka on July 14 to join the Bangladesh ODI squad. The three-match ODI series against the Lankans will begin on July 20.
