Two penalties by Diabate enable Dhaka MSC to draw 2-2 with Dhaka Abahani

The titans battle between country's two traditional clubs --Dhaka Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mohammedan SC--in the 10-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football ended in 2-2 draw at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Friday, reports UNB.
In the day's vital match, Brazilian midfielder Bruno Goncalves Rocha put the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani ahead in the very 2nd minute (1-0) while St Vincent forward Cornalius Stewart double the Abahani margin in the 55th minute ((2-0).
Coming from 0-2 goals behind, Mohammedan SC, riding on two penalty goals by Malian striker Soulemane Diabate in the 68th and 87th minutes, leveled the margin with the frustration of Abahani fans.
Abahani manager Kazi Nazrul Islam got direct red card in the match for protesting the referees 2nd penalty decision against them that stopped for few minutes.
With the day's outcome, Dhaka Mohammedan SC not only maintain their unbeaten record in the league as the lone team, but also keep their 2nd slot intact in the league table securing 17 points from nine matches.
Despite of the day's frustrating draw, Dhaka Abahani also maintained their unbeaten run against Mohammedan SC in the BPL playing six matches since 2019 and remained at the 3rd slot in the league table securing 15 points from nine matches.
But, Dhaka Mohammedan enjoyed the upper hand beating Dhaka Abahani twice in Federation Cup Football.
Mohammedan SC clinched the Federation Cup crown after a long break of 14 years beating Dhaka Abahani Ltd by 4-2 goals in tie-breaker in the final held in Comilla May last year while they again beat Abahani Ltd by 2-1 goals in a group match of the ongoing Federation Cup Football this month in Gopalganj.
Earlier, Mohammedan SC also came to limelight forcing holders,Bashundhara Kings to concede the first defeat in the ongoing BPL.
In the day's other match, Coming from behind, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Rahmatganj MFS by 2-1 goals at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Friday.
Ghana forward SM Konney scored first for Rahmatganj in the 20th minute (1-0) while Brazilian midfielder Higor neutralized the margin for Sheikh Jamal in the 40th minute (1-1).
Uzbek defender S. Kholmatov scored the match winning goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 64th minute (2-1)
After the match, Sheikh Jamal DC advanced to the 4th place securing 13 points while Rahmatganj MFS went down to 8th slot with seven points, both playing nine matches each.
