Two rival panels share equally in Category B

The much-talked about election of the country's most glamorous and rich sports body, Bangladesh Cricket Board, was held peacefully at the National Sports Council in the city Wednesday with two rival panels sharing the post of directors equally in Category B, reports UNB.
In Category B (for Dhaka Metropolis Club), Mahbub Anam-led panel bagged six posts of directors -- Mahbub Anam (33 votes), Aziz Al Kaisar Tito (31), Mirza Salman Ispahani (31), Ahmed Iqbal Hasan (30), Aminul Haque Moni (29) and Mizanur Rahman (27).
The other six posts of directors in the category went to Bobby-Dastagir panel -- Jalal Younus (30), Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby (29), Enayet Hossain Siraj (29), Shafiqur Rahman Munna (28), Golam Dastagir Gazi (27) and GM Hasan Tamim (27).
In category A (for division and districts): Eight directors were elected from four divisions -- Dhaka Division - Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul (57 votes) and Abdullah Al Fuad Redwan (38), Chittagong Division - Sirajuddin Mohmmad Alamgir (50) and Moinuddin Chowdhury Kamru (43), Rajshahi Division - Mahmud Jamal (37) and Imtiaz Ahmed Shamsul Huda (34), Khulna Division - Syed Zahid Hossain (47) and Shahidul Islam (37).
Earlier, Asaduzzaman Khasru of Barisal Division and Imran Chowdhury of Sylhet Division were elected unopposed from Category A.
In category C (for national captain, educational institutions, associations, organisations, etc), former national captain Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu won the lone post of director polling 23 votes.
His nearest rival former skipper cum national chief selector Faruk Ahmed bagged 18 votes.
