U-12 football team starts dismally

The Bangladesh Under-12 Football team began dismally in the Super Mokh Cup Football tournament playing 1-1 against Sevilla FC of Spain and losing 0-6 to Chonburi FC of Thailand in Friday's matches at pitch B-1, NSC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, reports UNB.

In the day's first match, Rashedul scored in the 8th minute to put Bangladesh ahead while Ruben of Sevilla FC netted the equaliser in the 22nd minute.

In the 2nd match, Bangladesh lost 0-6 to Chonburi FC of Thailand.

In the remaining group match, Bangladesh will play Malaysia Cougars at 9:30 am today (Saturday).

Sixteen teams, split into four groups, are initially competing on league basis with Bangladesh placed in Group D with Sevilla FC (Spain), Chonburi FC (Thailand) and Malaysia Cougars.

Two top teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the Cup

while the bottom two teams of each group will play in the Plate stage.

Earlier, a 20-member Bangladesh contingent, including four officials and 16 players, arrived in Kuala Lumpur Thursday.
