PARIS, Oct 3 (AFP): German giants Bayern Munich will be without captain and keeper Oliver Kahn and key striker Miroslav Klose for the crucial UEFA Cup clash against Belenenses Thursday.
"They are two important players for Bayern, both on and off the field," said French international Franck Ribery on the absence of Kahn and the Bundesliga's current leading scorer.
Dutch international midfielder Mark van Bommel and German international midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger are also in doubt for the trip to Lisbon's Estadio do Restelo, Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said Tuesday on the club website.
Kahn, who is set to retire from the Bundesliga at the end of the season, missed Saturday's 1-0 league win over Bayer Leverkusen with a painful elbow injury and Tuesday travelled to the United States for specialist surgery.
Klose aggravated a calf injury and may need "at least three weeks" to recover, Hitzfeld said.
