Hosts University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) made a good start in the 7th ULAB Fair Play Cup Inter Private University T20 Cricket beating State University of Bangladesh (SUB) by eight wickets in the opening match at ULAB playground in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
Chairman of BCB Game Development and former captain of National Cricket team Khaled Mahmud Sujan inaugurated the 12-team meet in the morning.
ULAB Board of Trustee member and Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board Kazi Inam Ahmed, and ULAB Vice-Chancellor Prof Imran Rahman were present at the inaugural function, organised by ULAB.
Sent in to bat first in the day's inaugural match, State University of Bangladesh (SUB) scored 125 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs with Palash Ahmed making 50 runs off 54 balls. Tanvir Ahmed of ULAB grabbed 3 wickets.
In reply, ULAB easily reached their target scoring 129 runs in 18.3 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
Ijal Ahmed Khan of ULAB scored an unbeaten 54 runs off 45 balls and was adjudged man of the match.
In all 12 teams, split into four groups, are taking part in the tournament.
Participating teams: North South University, BRAC University, East West University, Northern University of Bangladesh, United International University, State University of Bangladesh, Manarat International University, Independent University, Bangladesh, University of Asia Pacific, Southeast University, Eastern University and hosts ULAB.
Today's matches: North South University vs Northern University Bangladesh (9:30 am); and Independent University, Bangladesh vs Eastern University (11:00 am).
