Victoria win relegation league opener

An all-round performance by Akil Arshad guided Victoria SC to a four-wicket win over bottom ranked City Club in a relegation league match of the Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket that began Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka, reports UNB.
Sent in to bat first, City Club, which failed to earn any point from 11 first phase matches, were all out for 116 in 26.2 overs with two down Arman Haider hammering 45 runs off 31 balls that featured eight fours.
Akil Arshad bowled devastatingly to claim three wickets for 6 runs in five overs with three maidens while pacer Waskurni Palash also took three wickets for 52 runs in six overs.
In reply, Victoria SC cantered to victory scoring 117 runs in 22.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Apart from his 3-wicket haul, middle order batsman Akil Arshad scored team highest 27 runs off 37 balls with three fours to be adjudged man of the match.
Mohammad Salim (not out 22), Arafat Salauddin (not out 21), skipper Sharifullah (12) and Ashraful Aziz (12) were the other notable contributors for Victoria SC.
New ball bowler Sirajullah Khadem captured three wickets for 40 runs while Gazi Alamgir, Mahfuz Kabir and Golam Hossain took one wicket apiece.
