Victory Day Volleyball begins today

The Walton Smart TV Victory Day Volleyball Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation, will begin today (Thursday) at the Dhaka Volleyball Stadium in the city, reports UNB.

Defending champions Bangladesh Army will play Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the inaugural match that will kick-off at 8:00 am.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder will inaugurate the three-day meet in the morning. Executive Director of the meet's sponsor RB Group (Walton) SM Zahid Hasan will be present as the special guest.

Eight teams, split into two groups, will compete in the tournament.

Participating teams:

Group A: Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Police Group B - Power Development Board (PDB), Titas Gas T&D Co Ltd, Bangladesh Navy and BKSP.

Bangladesh National Women's Volleyball team, split into two groups, will play an exhibition match on the final day.

The details of the tournament were disclosed by Bangladesh Volleyball Federation officials at a press conference at the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Wednesday.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation Ashiqur Rahman Miku, NSC director (Administration) Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan, Tournament Committee chairman FM Iqbal Bin Anwar and tournament secretary advocate Fazle Rabbi Babul spoke the press conference.

Two best players of both men's and women's groups will be awarded with Walton home appliances while Bangladesh Volleyball Federation will also honour the best booster, best player and best attacker of the tournament.

Tournament sponsor RB Group (Walton) will bear the entire expenses of the tournament amounting to Tk 50,000.
