Batsman Lou Vincent has been recalled to the New Zealand squad for the November Test tour of South Africa, reports BBC.
Vincent, in and out of the Test team since his debut against Australia in 2001, replaced Peter Fulton, who was ruled out with a knee injury.
Fulton needs surgery but should be available for the Chappell-Hadlee series in Australia in December.
Vincent will battle with Ross Taylor for a middle order spot - Craig Cumming and Michael Papps are set to open.
Taylor and Mark Gillespie are striving for Test debuts after impressing in the one-day arena while Craig McMillan is a notable omissions.
