Warne eyes Lehmann's job as Australia's cricket head coach

Test legend Shane Warne has not ruled out the possibility of becoming Darren Lehmann's successor as Australia coach once the position becomes available in 2019, reports https://www.cricket.com.au.

Lehmann reaffirmed in the lead-up to the Boxing Day Test he would not seek a contract extension once his current deal expires after the 2019 World Cup and Ashes series in the United Kingdom.

Warne, Australia's greatest wicket-taker, has acted as a coaching consultant and mentor at various stages since his Test retirement in 2007 - most notably for Australia in 2014 ahead of the World T20 in Bangladesh - and says he would consider answering the call should one come his way once Lehmann walks away.

"I've always been open to (coaching) any country, but obviously I would love to coach Australia - not coach Australia but be part of the Australian set-up if they needed it," Warne said on Wide World of Sports.
