Wave of resignations at BCB after 9-hour meeting

Seven directors have resigned within six months of Bulbul-led board taking office

After a marathon nine-hour meeting on Saturday, the notices began pouring in by the hour. Within a few hours, four of the board's directors had resigned. However, the outgoing officials would only say that their decisions were due to personal matters, according to bdnews24.com.
The board, which formed last October after polls, is not even six months old. But already, seven of the 25 elected director have now left.
On January 24, Ishtiaque Sadeque, the chairman of the game development committee, resigned. On March 23, Amjad Hossain left his post as director after being removed from the post of chairman of the board's media committee. On Thursday, Yasir Mohammed Faysal Ashique, the chairman of the logistics and protocol committee, departed.
Amid these exits, a board of directors meeting was held on Saturday. Director Faiazur Rahman, who attended the lengthy session meeting, sent in his resignation letter afterwards. Even at the press conference following the board meeting, the news of four fresh resignations was making the rounds. Mokhsedul Kamal, BCB director and head of the board's media and communications committee, said the directors had left citing personal matters.
"Those who resigned did so for their personal reasons," he said. "Today as well, we have come to know through you that a director (Faiazur) has resigned, although he was present at the meeting. He has done a lot for cricket."

Those who have resigned, including him, have played a considerable role at the BCB and for cricket." Following the hour-long press conference, more departures came to light. Shanian Taneem Naveen, head of the facilities committee, and Mehrab Alam Chowdhury, head of the security committee, resigned. News that Manjur Alam, chair of the medical committee, had resigned came in late at night.
At the press conference, BCB Director and Women's Wing head Rubaba Dowla claimed there was no disruption or unrest within the board over the resignations. Many plans and decisions would be made in the future, she said.
Another BCB director, Iftekhar Rahman, acknowledged that the resignation of so many directors was not normal, but was unwilling to go into the details.
