Weightlifting team to leave for Qatar today

An eight-member Bangladesh Weightlifting team, led by BD Weightlifting Federation (BWF) President Manjur Quader Quraishi, will leave Dhaka for Qatar at 11:00 am today (Monday), reports UNB.

Bangladesh will take part in the 16th Youth, 22nd Junior Asian Women' s Weightlifting Championship, and Qatar 2nd Int'l Weightlifting Cup beginning this week in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Zohra Akter Reshma will compete in the 44 kg while Mabia Akter in the 63kg weight category in the 16th Youth, 22nd Junior Asian Women's Weightlifting Championship.

Molla Sabira Sultana will compete in the 53kg weight category of the Qatar 2nd Int'l Weightlifting Cup.

Apart from team leader and three players, National Sports Council (NSC) coach Shariar Sultana Suchi, Youth and Junior Women's coach Kajal Dutta, BWF general secretary Wing Commander (retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed, as technical officer, and former women's weightlifter Khurdhida Khatun Khushi, as referee, are also included in the eight-member team.
