Women's national handball begin July 19

The Basic Bank 18th National Women's Handball Champion-ship begins Thursday (July 19) at the Dhanmondi Women's Sports Complex with Madaripur DSA taking on Dhaka DSA in the inaugural match at 9:30 am, reports UNB.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation Nurul Amin, who is also the Industries Secretary, is expected to inaugurate the meet, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation.
Sixteen teams including defending champions BJMC and runners-up Bangladesh Ansar, spit into four groups, will compete in the preliminary phase of the five-day meet being held after two years.
Later, two top teams from each of the groups will be eligible to play in the quarter-finals
Handball Federation general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohi-noor disclosed the details at a press conference at the Federation office Tuesday.
Basic Bank deputy general manager Quayyum M Kibria, tournament committee chairman Kazi Mahtabuddin Ahmed, vice-chairman Ekra-muzzaman and tournament secretary M Nurul Islam were present.
Participating teams: BJMC, Bangladesh Ansar, Faridpur, Naogaon, Barguna, Panchagarh, Magura, Madaripur, Narail, Joypurhat, Jhalakati, Kurigram, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Gopalganj DSAs.
