Women's national handball begins today

The Basic Bank 18th National Women's Handball Championship begins tomorrow (Thursday) at Dhanmondi Women's Sports Complex with Madaripur DSA taking on Dhaka DSA in the inaugural match at 9:30 am, reports UNB.
Industries Secretary Nurul Amin, also the President of Bangladesh Handball Federation, is expected to inaugurate the meet organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation.
Sixteen teams, including defending champions BJMC and runners-up Bangladesh Ansar, spit into four groups, will compete in the preliminary phase of the five-day meet being held after two years.
Later, two top teams from each of the groups will be eligible to play in the quarterfinals.
Participating teams: BJMC, Bangladesh Ansar, Faridpur, Naogaon, Barguna, Panchagarh, Magura, Madaripur, Narail, Joypurhat, Jhalakati, Kurigram, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Gopalganj DSAs.
