Young Tigers concede 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan

Bangladesh Under-19 team, now in Malaysia to participate in the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup, conceded to a five-wicket defeat against holders Pakistan in the second and last warm-up match at Club Aman in Kuala Lumpur Wednesday, reports UNB.
Pakistan, looking for third consecutive title in the ICC U/19 World Cup, proved their quality against their sub-continental rivals despite making a frustrating start with a four-wicket loss against England in the first warm-up match at Kilat Club ground in Malaysia Monday.
The Young Tigers, which got off to a flying start in Malaysia tour beating Malaysia Under-19 side by 165 runs in the first warm-up match Monday, failed to perform to their potential Wednesday.
Sent to bat first in the day's match, Bangladesh were all out for 203 in 48.5 overs with Mithun Ali scoring 75 runs off 101 balls that featured eight fours and two sixes.
Besides, Dollar Mahmud scored 27 runs off 31 balls with two fours and a six while Ashiqul Islam made 23 off 50 balls with two boundaries.
A Raza of Pakistan claimed three wickets for 27 runs while M Amin, M Rameez and Ahmed Khan took two wickets each.
In reply, holders Pakistan easily reached their target of 204 runs for the loss of five wickets in 43.2 overs with opener A Shahzad contributing 79 runs off 103 balls that included seven fours and a six.
Another opener, U Akmal made 63 off 64 balls with 10 hits to the fence and one over the fence.
Bangladesh skipper Suhrawardi Shuvo grabbed took two wickets for 37 runs while Rubel Hossain took one for 48 runs.
In the day's other warm-up matches, India maintained all-win record beating England by six wickets after earlier beating New Zealand by six runs Monday.
New Zealand and hosts Malaysia tasted first victory in their 2nd warm-up match beating Ireland and Papua New Guinea by 181 runs and 59 runs respectively.
The 16-team ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup will begin on February 17 in Malaysia. But Bangladesh will start the Cup campaign playing Bermuda on Feb 18 at the Bayueams Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Bangladesh will play Ireland on Feb 20 at the same venue while meet England on Feb 22 at the Royal Selangor Club ground in their remaining Group D matches.
