Young Tigers rout England to qualify for fifth place playoff

Bangladesh handed a five-wicket defeat to England in the fifth-place play-off semifinal of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Queenstown Events Centre in New Zealand on Sunday, reports UNB.
Saif Hassan-led Young Tigers will face South Africa in the fifth-place deciding play-off at the same venue on January 31 while England and New Zealand battle it out to finish seventh on January 30.
Man of the match Afif Hossain returned 3/18 before hitting a 71 off 86 balls in the day's match to overcome English side post of 216/10 in 47.2 overs, as Bangladesh reached the destination scoring 220/5 in 47.3 overs.
Saif, who was another big hitter with 59 off 89 balls, shared a partnership of 66 off 15.2 overs with all-rounder Afif in the 4th wicket stand to carry the team collection to 148/4 in 34.3 overs from 82/3 in 19.5 overs.
Hammering four boundaries in his innings, Saif was lbw by Prem Sisodiya to depart from 4th wicket stand, but Afif continued with Mohammad Rakib for another partnership of 61 in 12.1 overs in the next stand.
Afif fired seven boundaries and one six in his innings before being bowled out by Euan Woods on 209/5 in 46.2 overs.
Rakib (28* off 42b; 2x4) gave full support to Afif taking Bangladesh to within eight runs of the target before Afif was bowled out, completely missing a slog against Woods.
But it was too little to late for England, as Rakib scored the winning runs with a crash through point for a boundary in the last ball.
Aminul Islam (20 off 25b; 1x4; 1x6) and Towhid Hridoy (10 off 26b) were the other double digit scorers for Bangladesh.
Adam Finch bagged two wickets for 36 runs while Euan Woods, Prem Sisodiya and Ethan Bamber took one wicket each for 27, 32 and 32 runs.
Sent in to bat first, England's innings collection spurred with a partnership of 126 off 20.3 overs, between two half centurions' Liam Banks and skipper Harry Brook in the 2nd wicket stand to carry the team total to 143/2 in 25.5 overs from 17/1 in 5.2 overs before L Banks was caught by Robiul Haque off Mohammad Rakib.
L Banks played an innings of 74 off 82 balls, including eight boundaries and one six, while H Brook played run-a-ball 66 with nine boundaries before being caught by Qazi Onik off Hasan Mahmud.
Jack Davies (26 off 41b; 1x4) and Prem Sisodiya (20 off 32b; 3x4) were the other double digit scorers for England at the 7th and 8th places respectively.
Afif Hossain (3/18 in 5.2 overs) and Hasan Mahmud (3/29 in 10 overs) handled the English side well sharing more than the half way of the batting castle. Qazi Onik (2/46 in 10 overs), Robiul Haque (1/27 in 4 overs) and Mohammad Rakib (1/39 in 7 overs) were the other wicket takers for Bangladesh.
However, Bangladesh conceded a seven-wicket defeat to England at the same venue on January 18 in their Group C battle of the 16-team world event.
