MOSCOW, May 14 (AFP): The disciplinary panel of the Russian Football Union (RFU) on Wednesday sanctioned Zenit St Petersburg with a 3-0 loss in Sunday's match with Dynamo Moscow which was abandoned late in the game because of crowd trouble.
The Saint Petersburg side were also told to pay a one-million rouble ($28,800) fine for their fans' unruly behavoir and they were ordered to play their next two league home matches behind closed doors.
After that, popular sections of the Petrovsky stadium will be closed for Zenit's next three home matches.
"Zenit were penalised with a technical 3-0 defeat for their inability to secure public order at the arena and for their fans' assault that forced the game to be abandoned," the RFU disciplinary panel chief Artur Grigoryants said.
