Zia maintains sharing lead in Continental Chess

GM Ziaur Rahman maintained sharing lead with GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly, GM Sandipan Chanda of India and GM Le Quang Liem of Vietnam and GM Elshan Moradiabadi of Iran in the 8th Asian Continental Chess Championship Sunday, reports UNB.
He secured four points after the 5th round matches held at Subic Freeport, Olongapo City, Philippines.
In the day's other matches, Zia (Rating-2523) drew with GM Dao Thien Hai (Rating-2546) of Vietnam. Zia played with white pieces against Slav-Defense of Dao and drew at 31st moves.
GM Enamul Hossain Razib and GM Niaz Murshed earned three points each and FM Abu Sufian Shakil earned two points after 5th round matches.
In the day's match, Niaz beat GM Villamayor Buenaventure of the Philippines and Razib beat IM Akshayraj Kore of India. Shakil drew with Vidit Santosh Gujrathi of India.
In the Women's section, WFM Shamima Akter Liza earned two points after the end of the 5th round matches. But, Liza lost against Nguyen Thi Mai Hung of Vietnam.
The 6th round matches starts today (Monday) at 1:00 pm (BST).
