Zia still maintains solo lead in Nat’l A chess

GM Ziaur Rahman Zia of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited maintained his solo lead in the points table of the Berger Paints National A Chess with 5.5 points after the 6th round games that resumed Friday at the Media Centre of Bangladesh Olympic Association, reports BSS.

GM Enamul Hossain of Bangladesh Navy followed the leader with 5 points and GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan SC placed in 3rd position with 4.5 points.

In the 6th round games held on Friday, Zia beat IM Minhazuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy. Zia played with white pieces with Trompowsky Attack.

Minhaz offered a draw after 13 moves but Zia refused and continued the game, at 22nd moves Zia got better position and finally won at 59th moves.

Enamul beat FM Rezaul Haque of Access Group. Enamul played with white pieces against old Indian defence and Enamul won against Reza at 75 moves. Niaz beat Uten of Access Group. Niaz played with black pieces with unusual reply of Uten King's pawn opening and Niaz won after 29 moves.

Reigning champion GM Abdullah Al Rakib of Bangladesh Navy beat CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed Robin of Dhaka Mohammedan. Rakib played with white pieces against Slav-Defence of Mahtab, Rakib got clear better position at 37th moves and finally Rakib won at 47 moves.  FM Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy beat Masum Hossain of Fire Service & Civil Defence. Nasir played with white pieces against Sicilian Defense of Masum, Nasir continued to Dragon Variation and got comfortable end game position after 47 moves, finally Nasir won at 61st moves.

FM Debartaj Chatterjee of Titas Club beat CM Sohel Chowdhury of Leonine Chess Club. Debaraj played with black pieces in Center Contour system and won against Sohel at 81 moves. FM Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy beat Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club.

Amin played with white pieces against King's Indian of Mostafa, Amin continued to Aberbakh Variation and won at 30th moves.
