Bogra branch of AB Bank Limited Wednesday filed a case in Money Loan Court for realising Tk 707.7 million against Md. Tipu Sultan, owner of M/s. Abdul Malek Mondol and Sons.
Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Vice President of the Branch lodged the case on behalf of the Bank.
AB Bank sources said the client borrowed an amount of Tk 760 million from the Bogra branch of the bank gradually in between 2009 to 2011 for importing wheat but didn't repay the amount despite the bank's repeated reminders.
The Bank later served legal notice on the client on October 19 last but the client didn't respond.
Notably, the defaulter Mr. Tipu Sultan is also the owner of T.R. Travels, T.R Specialized Cold Storage situated in Bogra and Dhaka Trading, a jute mill located in Daulatpur, Khulna.
It is mentionable that the Bank also filed another case to realize Tk 400 million under Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 on July 23 last but the client is yet to respond in this regard.
