Abul Kashem Md Mohiuddin, Secretary of IMED, attended as the chief guest a workshop for stakeholders of e-PMIS software at the NEC Auditorium in the city on Monday.

Project directors (PDs) under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) have been urged to update all the project data in the electronic Project Management Information System (e-PMIS) of Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED).

The call was made at a dissemination workshop for stakeholders of e-PMIS software organised by Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA), formerly known as Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of IMED, the Ministry of Planning, at the NEC auditorium in Dhaka on Monday, says a press release.

The workshop was held under Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project (DIMAPPP), which is now being implemented by BPPA. The World Bank supported the DIMAPPP from July 2017 to December 2023. The e-PMIS has been developed and operationalized under the DIMAPPP.

Representatives from a total of 50 ministries, divisions and agencies attended the workshop who discussed various aspects and usage of e-PMIS in their entities.

IMED Secretary Abul Kashem Md Mohiuddin attended the event as the chief guest while Additional Secretary Dr. Subhas Chandra Biswas was present as the special guest. Chief Executive Officer of BPPA Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman presided over the workshop which was also attended by Senior Procurement Specialist of the World Bank, Dhaka Office Arafat Ishtiaque.

BPPA Director (Deputy Secretary) Afroza Parvin made detailed presentation which showed the data update in the system was not at the expected level. All PDs have been requested to provide project data as soon as possible.

There are a total of 1343 projects in the current fiscal and 1256 PDs have registered with e-PMIS.

The secretary said the government is working to bring about reforms in all fields in order to build a prosperous and discrimination-free country. And it is also necessary to change the mindset to this end, he said.

He expressed the hope that e-PMIS will enable the project directors to oversee the project implementation without any hassles.

The e-PMIS software will gradually be integrated with other systems so that data from other systems can automatically be uploaded on this which would make this system more workable, he said.

At present, it has been integrated with NID, electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) and Project Processing, Appraisal, and Management System (PPS) with IBAS+ integration expected soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of BPPA Mirza Ashfaqur Rahman said since e-PMIS is a web-based software, it is possible to work from anywhere in the world using the software.
