Ananda Shipyard to supply dredgers

Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd and world-famous US dredger manufacturing organization Ellicott Dredges LLC is assisting Bangladesh Government in regaining the glory of the riverine Bangladesh by supplying three dredgers  for maintaining the navigability of rivers.
These two organizations will supply different dredgers to the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).
The equipments include two of 16-inch dredgers and necessary accessories costing Tk 1.23 billion and another 18-inch dredger costing Tk 330 million.
An agreement between Ellicott Dredges LLC, and Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd has been signed to form joint venture (JV) company of Ellicott Dredges LLC and Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd prior to these supply contracts.
 A contract  on manufacturing and supplying two 16-inch cutter suction dredgers and eighteen associate vehicles and accessories under a 'ten dredgers, crane boat, tug boat, officer house boat, and crew-house boat collecting project' was signed on April 17 last year.
Besides, a contract for supplying an 18-inch cutter suction dredger and other related accessories was signed recently.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan MP visited the Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd at Meghnaghat in Narayanganj on Wednesday. Chairman of BIWTA Dr Mohammad Shamsuddoha Khandker, member engineering Firoze Ahmed and senior engineers were present.
After visiting the shipyard, the minister expressed satisfaction over the progress in the project work and also expressed firm determination of the government in the development of the ship building industry.
The minister also recalled the contributions of Ananda Shipyard in exporting the first ever ocean-bound ship from Bangladesh to Denmark.
Ananda Shipyard's Chairman Dr Abdullahel Bari said, Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd and Ellicott Dredges LLC are working relentlessly for supplying the dredgers on time.
