Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Wednesday urged the concerned authorities for formulating 'venture capital policy' immediately to attract large-scale investment in the growing IT sector.
Shameem Ahsan, president of BASIS made the call at a meeting with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Prof Dr M Khairul Hossain at the SEC office.
Executive Director of SEC Mahbubul Alam, among others, was present in the meeting, a BASIS media release Wednesday said.
The BASIS president also requested the authorities to reduce the required paid-up capital from Tk 300 million in order to help the IT companies to be enlisted with the stock exchanges.
He said reducing the paid-up capital will help the leading IT companies take part in IPO increasing their investment to grow their business further.
Apart from these, he also requested the SEC chairman to take into account the sustainable growth pattern of the companies rather than dividend pay-out ahead of allowing the IPOs.
The SEC chairman Professor Hossain also assured of taking necessary measures in this connection.
