BB Governor speaks on business opportunities for foreign investors

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman chaired a panel discussion on 'Financing the Growth: Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh Capital Market', at 'Bangladesh Roadshow UK 2015 on Creating Opportunities for Investors' held in London, Thursday.

In the Roadshow, among other distinguished delegates, Dr. Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Mr. Syed A Samad, Executive Chairman, Board of Investment (BOI), Md. Abdul Hannan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh in UK, Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, President, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) were also present.

In the inaugural session: 'Revealing the opportunities', Governor Rahman delivered a presentation on 'Bangladesh on Path to an Upper-Middle Income Economy', where he stressed that Bangladesh is on board towards an upper middle income economy with 6 per cent plus real GDP growth for more than a decade amid series of external volatilities.

He added that in line with the Government's Vision 2021 for inclusive, equitable growth, Bangladesh offers high risk-adjusted returns for the foreign investors with favourable strategic location, demographic dynamics, cost advantages. He shared his views as a discussant on another panel discussion on 'Regulatory framework in Bangladesh for Investment'.

He dwelt on how Bangladesh's external openness management approach seeks to channel inflows into growth promoting uses underpinning stability. BB Governor broadly discussed the available and new opportunities and incentives for the foreign investors.
