The 11th cycle of the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture concluded with an award ceremony at a city hotel on Tuesday.
At the event, six outstanding architectural projects were recognised for their excellence. These projects were selected from a pool of 116 nominated entries and the respective architects were awarded, says a statement.
At the event, Professor Shamsul Wares, a renowned architect, educator, and art critic, was also honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his immense contribution to the field of architecture and his extraordinary artistic sensibility.
The event was attended by notable figures including President of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed; General Secretary Nabi Newaz Khan; Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited Rupali Chowdhury; Chief Operating Officer and Director Md Mohsin Habib Chowdhury; member of the award directorate of the 11th cycle; jury members, distinguished architects, and senior officials from Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited (BPBL).
The jury panel consisted of renowned architects -- Abu Hydar Imamuddin, Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, Tamanna Sayeed, Gibson Rhie (South Korea) and Kamar Ahmed Simon (filmmaker). Asia Karim served as the Award Director, with Abu Musa Iftekhar and Nazifa Tabassum serving as Deputy Award Directors.
The six award-winning projects were selected through a rigorous two-stage evaluation process conducted by the jury. The winners are Rahat Ibna Hasan of Studio Gumtee Ghor for 'A home for memories and daydreams'; Fazla Rabbi of Perceive + ASP for 'Rupgaon'; and Khondkar Nazmul Hassan, Khalid Ahmed Khan of Neoformation Architects for 'Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited Unit -17 Multipurpose Industrial Building' projects.
