BGFCL supplies 22 mmcfd of additional gas to national grid

Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL), the largest natural gas production company under Petrobangla, is currently producing an average of 458 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd), which accounts for approximately 26 per cent of the country's total gas production and about 65 per cent of the production of state-owned entities.
Due to prolonged gas production, from the company's Titas Gas Field's Location-E (Well nos. Titas 11 and 12) and Location-G (Well nos. Titas- 17, 18 and 27), the wellhead pressure of the wells was decreasing. As the wellhead pressure was lower than the pressure of the gas sales line (the national grid line), it was not possible to supply the desired amount of gas, says a press release.
To overcome the situation and ensure the supply of gas to the national grid by increasing the wellhead pressure, a project titled "Installation of Wellhead Compressors at Titas Gas Field Location-E and Location-G" was undertaken.
Currently, an average of approximately 31 million cubic feet (mmcfd) of gas is being supplied to the national grid from Titas Location-E, and an average of approximately 30 mmcfd of gas from Titas Location-G through the wellhead compressors daily.
Additionally, as a gas by-product, an average of approximately 36 barrels of condensate is being produced from Titas Location-G and E every day.
Before the installation of the wellhead compressors, a maximum average of 21 mmcfd could be supplied from Titas Location-E and 18 mmcfd from Titas Location-G daily while the gas by-product (condensate) was approximately 25 barrels per day.
The installation of the wellhead compressors has made it possible to add an additional average of approximately 22 (10+12) million cubic feet of gas per day to the national grid, which is playing a supportive role in meeting the national energy demand.
