BKB seminar on agri development

Bangladesh Krishi Bank held a seminar titled 'Role of Bangladesh Krishi Bank in Agricultural Development: Roadmap to Overcoming Challenges' at the auditorium of its head office in Dhaka on Thursday.

Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, attended the event as the chief guest, says a press release.

During the seminar, Sanchia Binte Ali, Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, presented an informative roadmap outlining the bank's activities and the challenges of financing the climate-dependent and high-risk agricultural sector.

In her address, Nazma Mobarek said that Bangladesh Krishi Bank, as a policy bank of the government, has been playing a vital role in the country's agricultural economy by disbursing loans in climate-vulnerable and high-risk sectors, sustaining agricultural production, and supporting the achievement of food self-sufficiency through various government initiatives.

She emphasized the importance of the effective implementation of the roadmap to overcome existing challenges, ensure the bank's continuous development, and enhance its profitability.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Dr. Mohammad Zahid Hossain presided over the event while additional secretary Md. Sayed Kutub was present as a special speaker.

Joint secretary of the Financial Institutions Division and Member of the Board of Directors of the bank Maksuma Akter Banu and joint secretary Sheikh Farid attended the seminar.
