FE REPORT | August 24, 2022 00:00:00

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Tuesday revised the trading hours for both the bourses of the country.

As per new schedule effective from today (Wednesday), the stock market hours will now start 9:30am and close at 1:50pm.

The revised trading hour schedule came in line with the government's instructions to reschedule office timing in order to cut electricity consumption.

The securities regulator, in an order issued on Tuesday, reduced the stock trading hour by 10 minutes.

As per the BSEC order, the trading at the bourses will start at 9:30am instead of 10:00am and close at 1:50pm instead of 2:30pm.

The stock exchanges will have a post-closing session from 1:50pm to 2:00pm. The BSEC has reduced the post-closing session by five minutes.

The securities regulator has changed the trading hours in line with new office timings set for banks and government offices.

As per the government's order, banks will remain open for transactions from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) issued a press release on the revised trading hours set by the securities regulator.

"The DSE's regular official activities will be conducted from 8.30am to 3.30pm," said the DSE release.
