BTCL reduces internet price by 42pc

The Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL) has reduced the dedicated internet price by 42 per cent to Tk 2,800 for 1 Mbps (megabyte per second), which was Tk 4800 earlier.

The state-owned telecom operator has also slashed all other retail internet bandwidth prices significantly which was made effective from April 1 with 15 percent extra value added tax charge, said a statement issued by BTCL on Thursday.

The statement mentioned that the unlimited internet package users have to pay Tk 450 for 256 kilobyte per second (Kbps) speed, Tk 750 for 512 Kbps, Tk 1,150 for 1024 Kbps and Tk 1,600 for 1500 Kbps speed.
