BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and News Broadcasters' Alliance Society of Bangladesh (NBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the BUFT's Nishatnagar campus on Tuesday, establishing a partnership to expand educational and professional development opportunities for the news broadcasting community.
Under the MoU, BUFT will provide NBA members and their immediate family members with a 10% additional tuition fee scholarship across all programmes, as well as a 50% admission fee waiver, supporting higher education and skill enhancement for media professionals, says a press statement.
BUFT Chairman Faruque Hassan described the collaboration as a commitment to empowering those who serve society through journalism.
NBA Chief Adviser Zabed Karder praised the agreement as a meaningful step toward improving educational access and strengthening professional competencies within the broadcasting sector.
The MoU also includes cooperation in public relations and media engagement, and will remain valid for two years, with an option for renewal.
Prof. Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor of BUFT; Mohammad Imtiaj, Director, Department of Public Relations of BUFT; Raisul Hoque Chowdhury, General Secretary of NBA; and Atiqur Rahman Atik, Health & Social Welfare Secretary, were present at the signing ceremony.
