Citi Electronic Payment Roadshow reaches Comilla

Citibank, N.A., held its first up country workshop at Comilla recently as part of their ongoing electronic payment roadshow. The roadshow was originally launched on 26th August, 2014 at Dhaka and is expected to hold 4 more such events at country's main economic centers throughout rest of this year.
The program was attended by two senior officials of Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Khandaker Ali Kamran Al Zahid, Deputy Director and and Mr. Mohammad Akhlasuddin, Deputy Director who applauded such initiative of Citi Bangladesh and urged the participants to make their payments through EFT to experience the benefit of faster and hassle free transaction settlement. The overall cost of paper based payment is higher than what is visible , including charges, cost of paper, opportunity cost of time and travel to send cheques; a large savings can be contributed to the economy if the corporate houses across the country start paying thru EFT - said Mr. Mohammad Akhlasuddin of Bangladesh Bank.
Mr. Romell Gomez, Citi's Cash Product Manager in ASEAN Region has shared his outlook on Bangladesh's digital payment system and explained how companies in Southeast Asia are adopting paperless payment mechanism in order to attain a better control over their treasury management system. The objective of such event is to create awareness among the corporate payers and bankers through highlighting the benefits of EFT system - said Mr. Romello while addressing a group of around 50 banks officials and 30 representative from reputed corporates of the country, said a statement.
