The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the implementing agency of Anti Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism (AML-CFT) arranged a conference at Cox's Bazaar for Chief Anti Money Laundering Compliance Officers (CAMLCO) and Deputy CAMLCOs of commercial banks operating in Bangladesh. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, and was attended by 135 participants.
Jun Claravall, Head of Sanctions Compliance for Asia-Pacific, Citigroup facilitated a session on Economic Sanctions, which was chaired by Karyn Kenny, Legal Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice OPDAT.
Jun spoke about new sanctions evasion practices and emphasized sanctions screening strategies that banks need to adopt to meet the rising regulatory expectations.
