City Bank appoints 2 DMDs for SMEs, microfinance

As part of its strategic commitment to support the SME and microfinance sectors in Bangladesh, City Bank has appointed two of its senior leaders Md. Nurul Azam Mozumder and Kamrul Mehedi as deputy managing directors (DMDs), according to a statement.
Md. Nurul Azam Mozumder, previously serving as senior executive vice president and head of medium business, has played a pivotal role in expanding City Bank's footprint in the medium business segment.
A mathematics and business studies graduate from the University of Dhaka, Mozumder began his banking career with City Bank in 1999 as a management trainee. Over the past 25 years, he has held numerous leadership roles including business development manager, cluster head of branches, and head of branch banking. Since 2018, as head of medium business, his leadership has significantly contributed to the bank's success in this key segment.
Kamrul Mehedi, also promoted from the position of senior executive vice president, has been leading City Bank's small and microfinance business since 2017. Under his leadership, the bank launched several pioneering financial products for CMSME customers and deepened its presence in agriculture, women's causes, and sustainable financing. Mehedi brings a unique blend of experience, having started his career at BRAC Bank and served in the Bangladesh Army. He holds a graduate degree in banking from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which has significantly shaped his approach to inclusive finance in the SME sector.
