City Bank is providing food support to the poor who have come under major food safety-related threat due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Aziz Al Kaiser, Chairman of City Bank, and Mashrur Arefin, Managing Director, are guiding and supervising relief distribution work with help of a team of bank employees. City Bank provided food support to the poor who have come under major food safety related threat due to ongoing coronavirus situation, said a statement.
The bank is providing food bags, each weighing 18 kilograms, containing 10 kgs of rice and other food essentials to 20 thousand families through 8 centres across the country. It is estimated that some 100,000 people will receive good support for one week through this initiative.
City Bank Chairman Aziz Al Kaiser is guiding and leading this effort with the help of bank management. To raise the necessary funds, staff of the bank donated their one day salary and the bank's board approved a sizeable contribution from the company also. The bank's Managing Director Mashrur Arefin is supervising the relief distribution work with help of a team of bank employees.
The relief goods are now being distributed at Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, Bogura, Noakhali, Tangail and Cumilla centers with the support of local administration and law enforcement agencies.
Besides, some 3000 families of 13 districts under Dhaka Range of Bangladesh Police are receiving the relief bags from City Bank through Uttaran Foundation, a social organisation founded by Habibur Rahman, DIG of Dhaka Range.
Moreover, 2000 middle class families living in the outskirts of Gulshan are receiving same through DC Gulshan of DMP, while DC Ramna is leading another initiative to send City Bank relief bags to 500 families of tannery workers in Hazaribag area.
Chairman Aziz Al Kaiser said that such humanitarian work will continue for the poor people facing this current crisis.
